Known also as the silver perch, white perch prefer clear water found in larger impoundments and rivers. Normally grows to 8 to 10 inches in length. This relative of the white bass in not a perch at all. Adults average a half pound but may grow to two pounds. They will bite on worms or small pieces of cut bait. Jigs with 2 to 3 inch twirl tail grubs and small inline spinners can also work well. The best success in fishing for white perch is usually at night or in deeper water in the daytime.
