Atlantic Bay Scallop
This popular edible scallop is found in eelgrass in the shallow water of bays. It grows to 2 to 3 inches. The shells vary in color from reddish brown to gray, bluish or white.
The calico scallop is smaller than the bay scallop (1-2 1/2 inches) with a deeper shell. Shells tend to be brightly colored and have a mottled appearance. Coloration will generally be irregular blotches of purple, white, yellow, and red.
